New Runes
Bestali's ideas of the runes differ quite a lot from the average Joe. It all started when I got my first set of runes. Bestali loved to play with them with me except... we both were frustrated by the fact that 1/2 the time they did not fall either right side up or reversed, they were sideways. This inspired Bestali to write some sideways meanings for them, that is where it all started. Next thing I knew we had a full blown set of runes on dice. we had the 25 traditional runes. 25 runes to update the runes for modern issues, astrological runes that have all the signs and planets, and a few sacred symbols. The dice also have roman numerals that represent time aspects. There are 5 layouts that these rune dice are thrown out onto that sort the runes into different areas of the reading. Of course they could be thrown without the layouts as well. The original runes written in 1989 were very harsh. It is our big family joke, if you are feeling sensitive don't use the runes! On the other hand they had a brutal honesty that was very helpful for me in my own journey. There were times I would be reduced to tears using them, but I would still come back for more. In 1997 Bestali and I got together on this and did a rewrite. They are still very direct and honest but not quite as brash as the original. The original set he really created for me personally so we both felt the general population would appreciate a little gentler version. I plan to put more information on the site about the dice version with the layouts and the text file, so if anyone wants to make a set of the dice they can but for now I have put on the card version.

Play With Them
In the rune cards set we had to leave out the roman numeral time element, there was no way to get that aspect to work in a card set, the rune cards had yet another problem, they never fall sideways unlike the runes themselves! so we added cards to the deck that when one came up you laid down another card and read the sideways meaning. That seemed to work well until... the web. There was no way to lay cards on top of one another on the site so I have left these cards out and instead have a set of images that come up under the cards saying which aspect to read, right side up, reversed, or sideways. The cards may be little large for a smaller monitor making the labels not line up with the cards but I'm sure you will still be able to figure it out.
The Runes are going through yet another incarnation as I am getting them ready to be published they will be quite different than this set and the meaning greatly expanded.
